Worms and viruses

No doubt many reading this have already been plagued by emails with messages claiming that you are the source of a worm or virus which comes from your own computer. Or perhaps you have been inundated with emails which have been 'returned' to you because they were undeliverable.

It is a frustrating aspect of life on the Net, but as long as we remain calm and dont believe these messages then we have a chance of a fairly normal life.

But ... watch out, because the people who send these emails are very crafty. I include below such an email, which also came with an attachment (Update-KB7015-x86.zip). This attachment has the appearance of genuine Microsoft update, so I thought I would check the Microsoft database. I looked up KB7015, and there was such a file but it was about faxing. I then checked for KB7015-x86, and only a page from Korea showed up on Google which when translated came up with a detailed report about it being a worm. It included the sort of message that people use for this worm.

Always double check anything which contains attachments, and don't assume that anti-spyware and anti-virus software will catch them I ran a check with Ad-Aware and with Avast, and they missed it.

Happy surfing:)

Our firewall determined the e-mails containing worm copies are being sent from your computer.

Nowadays it happens from many computers, because this is a new virus type (Network Worms).

Using the new bug in the Windows, these viruses infect the computer unnoticeably.
After the penetrating into the computer the virus harvests all the e-mail addresses and sends the copies of itself to these e-mail
addresses

Please install updates for worm elimination and your computer restoring.

Where is it all going?

Yesterday I heard about a teacher who was suspended because he he tried to separate two students fighting in school. He didn't touch either student, he just put his arms between them and told them to stop. Later the police arrived with the parents of one of the boys and he was arrested for assault. He will likely lose his job, because no-one is prepared to back teachers against children.

Children today can make any accusations they want, and the victim will suffer, and the accuser can get away with what they want. It seems that children are above the law, and can't be touched. Even the police are at risk. Yet it was pointed out to me today that children who are of an age to go to clubs which have 'bouncers' in place, are quite prepared to accept the role of the bouncer, and a bouncer can remove troublemakers etc without worrying about the threat of legal action. Perhaps schools should employ bouncers too, and then the violent children can be dealt with. Even the police could employ bouncers.

I don't think anyone is now safe to come the aid of any person, because the law is now in such a mess that a 'good samaritan' is likely to be arrested and could end up either in prison, or have their life ruined in some way.

The 'Da Vinci Code' and the Bible

This book has caused so much stir. It is fictional, yet it has elements of truth mixed up within it. The Bible is often referred to as being the Truth, but I believe that it holds the truth without being literally true in every detail. I believe that there are layers within the Bible, and that the surface layer is more of a story, a 'fiction' which discloses the truth which lies in the background.

A signpost points to where you want to travel, yet you dont carry the signpost with you. When you travel in an area which is new, you need to focus carefully on signposts, yet the locals dont need the signposts, and often enjoy the game of altering or even removing the signposts, and then watch to see how the strangers are affected. I see the Bible in a similar vein. We know that the Bible does not contain everything written, and that a large number of books were not allowed to be included. Some books even had to be hidden in case they were destroyed.

How can those who presided over the choice of books be certain that they had everything that should be included? We need to remember the role of the Roman Emperor in all this, and be prepared to accept a level of political intrigue which could have been unacceptable. If there was a lot of tampering with the 'signposts' by the strangers, how much more did the 'locals' tamper as well? I believe that this may have happened, even to a large degree, and that truths have been hidden for centuries - some unwittingly, and some deliberately. In this context, I dont have any problem with the Da Vinci Code, and I believe that those who are not prepared to believe in the possibility of 'tampering' are living in an idealistic world, and not in the real world.

Technorati Profile

Here's a poem

YOUR SONG

Have you a song
that wont be heard
'till the sound of your death
Resonates against the tide?

I see you drifting upon a shore
Its sirens intoning your misery
As you reach out for comfort.

Do you deny your song
Fearful of its power
Whilst imitating in envy
The song of another?

I would hear your song,
But not that,
Sung in your honour,
As remembrance of lost opportunity
Of frustrated hope.

Give us your song.
Release it into the stream
As you too have been released,
So to share
The gift of life.

Be not afraid,
In singing to lose your song.
It is in fear
That it is lost.

...Have you a song
That wont be heard
'till the sound of your death
Resonates against the tide...?

Phil Walton Releases D.I.Y. recording "Reason to live"

Press release by Keith 'MuzikMan' Hannaleck

Phil Walton went to the same school as Sting and Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys), and studied Music at Sheffield University alongside John Hackett (brother of ex Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett) but the education that benefited him the most was the school of life.

Walton has spent most of his working life as an orchestral Viola player while composing and conducting. While listening to his new release Reason To Live, you realize quickly his many experiences have paid huge dividends.

There are some great tunes on Reason To Live, tracks such as “She Walked” and “What Are You Waiting For,” feature Walton’s haunting vocals alongside delicate and perfectly placed guitar lines, stirring rhythms, and textured organ sounds that are as compelling as they are infectious.

What makes Phil Walton’s new album such an incredible feat of modern technology and sheer genius is the fact he created the entire recording on a computer, painstakingly putting it together piece by piece with tremendous effort driven by his true love for music, what makes a composition tick, and lyrics that come from the mind of a poet. A project of this magnitude pushes the musical envelope symbolically and literally into regions of creativity reserved for only those with an intrinsic knowledge and respect for music as a living breathing entity.

Those that enjoy progressive rock or art rock will find plenty of enjoyment and the opportunity to do some reflection in the mirror of life with this multi-hued moving music. Phil Walton challenges your imagination through his lyrics and music. He is a true poet and sage of our time. There are many ways to deliver a message and music can be the best medium of all, then it suddenly becomes clear after hearing this music you find yet another Reason To Live.

New Beginnings

Welcome to my blog.

I'm a musician, classicaly trained, and have worked as an orchestral player for most of my adult life. I have recently embarked on a new adventure, and have produced my first album as a singer/songwriter. It is called "Reason to live", and is available from CD Baby, Towerrecords and direct from my own label BlarisTrax. Downloads are available from MusicFreedom.

As further outlets (Apple iTunes, Napster etc) become available I will post these.

The album features only myself, as vocalist and performer, as well as lyricist and composer. I produced the whole thing in my home studio using Cubase, with a lot of mastering software from Universal Audio.

My intention was to create a showcase for my songwriting, and I wanted the album to be so realistic, that you would be convinced I was singing with a band. It turned out that I was successful, because reviewers have asked me for the list of musicians to be credited. An unexpected result was that my singing has been taken seriously, and now there is a new voice seeking to be heard.

Two reviews can be read, by Keith 'MuzikMan' Hannaleck and Dmitri Epstein
